Strength Performance
Offering young ambitious athletes the best chance to achieve their true sporting potential.
Founder /coach
Hi, my name is Alex, I’m the founder and head coach of Strength Performance. My aim with this offering is to give young ambitious athletes the best chance to achieve their sporting potential by helping them develop into healthy, robust powerhouses who can then dominate in their sport.
Growing up, I was an aspiring footballer and was in and out of academies. Niggling injuries and growing pains hampered a lot of my development from the age of 14 and, looking back, it’s clear I was given the wrong advice as to how to overcome these issues.
Part of my passion for coaching young athletes is to give them the expert support that I never had at the most important times of their development. It is easy to get left behind and to become demoralised as a young athlete if you become plagued with minor injuries and pains that you can’t seem to shake.
At times you can feel drained, lacking that sharpness and feeling like you can’t compete physically with your competitors. My aim is to completely turn this on its head and have you feeling like you are the strongest on the field. What I would have given to have a well structured strength training program as a young teenager!
What We Offer
-
Strength & Conditioning
An athlete that is stronger, faster and fitter than the rest will have a much better chance of succeeding. We coach athletes in an elite gym facility, following proven methods that will massively boost all of the vital physical attributes for their sport, giving our athletes a competitive edge like no other.
-
Injury Prevention & Rehab
The best way to become better at your sport is to practice it and compete in it. Injuries and niggling growing pains prevent this. All of the athletes that I’ve worked with have the lowest injury rate compared to their peers so they can spend more time playing their sport instead of watching on the sidelines.
-
Nutritional Guidance
I instil a few key ideas when it comes to nutrition that can have huge long term benefits on their health and performance. I coach the athlete through these changes and help to maintain these good habits with the aim of improving energy levels, recovering optimally and maximising lean muscle development.
-
Mental Resilience
That extra support through what can be a stressful process as a young aspiring athlete can make a huge difference. I aim to help young athletes through the good and bad times by equipping them with the tools they need to overcome challenges, build self-belief, and thrive in competitive environments.
-
Physiotherapy
Access to an elite level physio who, when needed, can come in to give that extra support needed.
-
Medical
Access to scans (eg MRIs) in short notice, that can be hard to source elsewhere.
-

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
I've heard that weight training is bad for children as it stunts their growth. Is this true?
No - there is very little evidence that weight training stunts a child’s growth.
If coached correctly and the child is physically mature enough, then weight training can have a massive positive effect on their performance. We make sure that every athlete is training in the optimal way for their given level.
I don't want my child getting bulky, slow and less agile - isn't that what gym training does?
No - only certain types of gym training do this. All of the training that we do will make your child grow stronger, faster and more agile fitting specifically to the sport that they play.
How often should my child be training?
Any number of sessions per week/month will be hugely beneficial to your child. The exact amount will depend on many factors such as age, development, sport schedule. This can be discussed with your coach.
